There are several types of metric fasteners available, each with its unique features and applications. Here are the different kinds of metric fasteners

Metric Bolts

Metric bolts are one of the most commonly used types of metric fasteners. They come in a variety of sizes, lengths, and grades, and can be used for a range of applications, from simple assemblies to heavy-duty constructions. 

Metric bolts have a threaded shaft and a head with a hexagonal or square shape, which can be tightened or loosened using a wrench or pliers. A metric or adjustable wrench is needed if using a wrench.

Dimensions for metric bolts include the length of the bolt, the width of its shaft, and the number of threads per centimeter.

Metric Nuts

Metric nuts are another essential type of metric fastener. They are used in conjunction with metric bolts to secure different parts together. Metric nuts come in various shapes and sizes, including hexagonal, square, and winged, and can be made from different materials, such as steel, brass, or plastic.

Metric nuts may also work with imperial bolts in a pinch, but they won't create a truly tight fit. Minor differences between metric and imperial measurements leave minuscule gaps. These gaps can widen with vibrations, use, and time.

Metric Screws

Metric screws are similar to bolts, but they are typically smaller and used to attach objects to a surface. They can be used in many of the same materials as bolts, such as metal, wood, and plastic. 

Screws come in various head shapes, such as flat, round, and pan. Metric screws are measured by their length and shaft width. The number of threads is less important, as they aren't intended to be used with bolts.

Metric Washers

Metric washers are used with metric bolts and nuts to distribute the load over a wider area and prevent damage to the surface. They come in flat, split, and wave shapes, and can be made from materials such as steel, copper, or nylon.

Metric Rivets

Metric rivets are used to join two pieces of material together without the need for threading. They can be made from different materials, including aluminum, steel, or brass, and come in various shapes and sizes. Metric rivets can be used for both permanent and temporary joints and are commonly used in the automotive, aerospace, and construction industries.
