Installing Industrial Fans in Your Building to Improve Heating and Cooling Efficiency

Operating an industrial manufacturing facility usually means the building you are working in is large and often has very high ceilings. Heating and cooling can be challenging in a building like this, but some industrial fans can help move the air around and improve the efficiency of your heating and cooling system.

1. Fans for High Ceilings

In your home or office, you may have a ceiling fan that helps pull the air from the floor to the ceiling or the other way around, depending on the time of year. Using ceiling fans can improve the heating and cooling system's efficiency, but for large buildings with high ceilings, you need industrial fans that are large enough for the space or they will not work.

Some fan companies manufacture extremely large ceiling fans that turn slow and move a lot of air inside your building. These industrial fans are often custom made for the building and look more like airplane propellers hanging overhead then fans.

The design of the blades on these industrial fans is crucial and needs to be rigid enough not to sag, but at the same time, they need to be able to flex a little. Often the blades are made from aluminum with all the required properties and light enough that your building's structure can safely support the fan.

2. Ventilation Fans

In many industrial facilities, removing heat and contaminates from the building is necessary, and using industrial fans built for that specific purpose can help. If your manufacturing process adds a lot of heat to the building, an industrial fan that can pull the air out of the building can be the best solution.

Air conditioning is often not practical in large industrial buildings. Still, fans that allow you to bring air into the building and exhaust the heat out can make working in the facility much more comfortable. Positioning the fans so that they create airflow through the building will make them work best and can create a slight breeze effect in the building that can be nice for your workers.

If you need fans for your building but are not sure what to buy, talk to an industrial fan company about what option you have for a building your size. In some cases, the industrial fan company may suggest custom made fans to achieve the airflow you are trying to accomplish for your building. While custom fans may be more expensive, they could save you a lot of money in heating and cooling costs in the long run.
